Lee Kum Kee was established in 1888 when it’s founder Mr Lee Kum Sheung invented oyster sauce in Nanshui, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province of China. With a glorious history of 130 years, Lee Kum Kee has become a household name as an ethnic Chinese enterprise as well as an international brand and a symbol of quality and trust. As a century-old ethnic enterprise, Lee Kum Kee substantiates its core value of “considering others’ interests” in every aspect of its business operations. Lee Kum Kee has also lived by the principles of “pragmatism, integrity and constant entrepreneurship”. The Company has two missions – one is “promoting Chinese cuisines worldwide” and the other is “modernizing and promoting traditional Chinese herbal health products to the people around the world”.

The Headquarters of Lee Kum Kee is set up in Hong Kong and has 5 production bases in Xinhui, Huangpu, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Los Angeles. In particular, the Xinhui factory is the largest operation on a plan of 1.33 million square metres of land.

Lee Kum Kee Group has become a globally renowned ethnic Chinese enterprise spanning three centuries. It provides over 200 choices of sauces and condiments to over 100 countries and regions across the five continents.

Apart from Sauce Group’s business, Lee Kum Kee has expanded to more businesses via LKK Health Products Group (LKKHPG). Headquartered in Hong Kong, LKKHPG has become a modern diversified business group with business operations in a number of countries and regions that specialises in R&D, production, sales and services of Chinese herbal health products; traditional Chinese medicine plantation management and sales of raw Chinese medicinal materials; mobile internet platform and related products and services; and property investment.

Birth of Oyster Sauce and Lee Kum Kee

Mr. Lee Kum Sheung invented oyster sauce in Nanshui, Guangdong Province of China and formed Lee Kum Kee to mass produce oyster sauce and shrimp paste for sale.

Appointment of 2nd Generation

Management of Lee Kum Kee passes on to the second generation of the Lee Family.
Mr. Lee Shiu Nan carries on the work of improving production procedures and quality assurance among Lee Kum Kee's many products, while Mr. Lee Shiu Tang was responsible for sales and marketing.

3rd Generation, Mr. Lee Man Tat Appointed Chairman of the Company

Mr. Lee Man Tat was appointed Chairman of the company. New business policies and expansion strategies were introduced, setting the direction of the company for the future. Mr. Lee set "Promoting Chinese cuisine worldwide" as our corporate vision and infuses "Si Li Ji Ren" philosophy into the company.

4th Generation Joined the Company

The 4th generation of Lee family, Eddy, David, Charlie, Sammy and Elizabeth graduated from abroad and joined Lee Kum Kee in the 80s. Their expertise in technology, marketing, and management brought Lee Kum Kee to a modernized new age.

Relocation to Macau and Development of Distribution Network

Lee Kum Kee was relocated to Macau and its sales network was expanded to Hong Kong.

Establishment of Hong Kong Branch

Lee Kum Kee expanded its operation during 30's to meet the increasing demands of its overseas markets. Branches were opened in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China. Hong Kong branch was located at 262 Queen's Road in Central.

Opening of Wong Chuk Hang Plant

Lee Kum Kee opened its production plant in Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. During that time, oyster sauce was produced with steam machines instead of firewood. Production was upgraded to use diesel as an energy source.

Establishment of Lee Kum Kee (US) Company Limited

Lee Kum Kee (US) Company Limited was established and opened in Los Angeles, USA.

Centennial of Lee Kum Kee and New Logo

Lee Kum Kee moved into its new headquarters in the Hong Kong Taipo Industrial Estate. The company adopted computerized production in the new plant.
To mark the occasion, Lee Kum Kee adopted a new company logo to symbolize the company's vision of building a cultural bridge between the East and West with our sauce products.

Establishment of Nanfang Lee Kum Kee Health Products Co. Ltd.

Lee Kum Kee collaborated with the First Ministry Medical University and established the Nanfang Lee Kum Kee Health Products Co., Ltd to promote traditional Chinese herbal health products.

Receives ISO9002 Certificate

Lee Kum Kee becomes the first Hong Kong food manufacturer to be accredited with ISO 9002 Certificate by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency and British Standards Institution.

Establishment of Production Plant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Lee Kum Kee set up plants in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Opening of Production Plant In Los Angeles, US

Lee Kum Kee built a plant in Los Angeles, US to localize production. The total plant area is 55,000 square feet and is located in the City of Industry, California.

New Golden Trademark Plaque

Lee Kum Kee launched the Lee Kum Kee Golden Plaque and label designs. The new logo was a guarantee of Lee Kum Kee's premium quality. Executed in a contemporary style, the border of the Golden Plaque incorporated the detail of a traditional Chinese window frame, reflecting Lee Kum Kee's Chinese heritage.

Establishment of Xinhui Plant

To expand production in Mainland China, Lee Kum Kee built a new plant in Xinhui, Guangdong.

The opening of Lee Kum Kee's production plant in Xinhui, Guangdong Province in China marked the impending growth of Lee Kum Kee's sauces and condiments.
With a total plant size of 1,700 acres and state of the art technology, this plant led the food industry in China and is known as the largest production facility of it's kind in the country and is the Lee Kum Kee Group's largest plant worldwide.

Opening of China Headquarters in Shanghai, China

Lee Kum Kee China Trading Company Limited opened its new headquarters in Shanghai.

A New Page for the Infinitus Brand

The Nanfang Lee Kum Kee Company Limited was renamed as the Infinitus (China) Company Limited. It marked a new milestone for the Company through its rebranding with a new name, new positioning and new logo.
